  • Package Circa $150K – $170K

Established in 1935, the Australian Funeral Directors Association (AFDA) is the national peak body for the Australian funeral industry, with member firms in all states and territories. AFDA focuses on upholding the highest industry standards, and member firms are expected to comply with requirements in relation to conduct, premises, equipment and vehicles. An exciting opportunity has now become available for a new CEO to lead the organisation, based out of AFDA’s Kew Head Office, and overseeing six regional offices.

Reporting to the National President and working closely with the Executive, you will lead and motivate a diverse team of direct reports across areas such as Events, Marketing, Finance, Media, Membership and Administration. Critically analysing reports provided by your team, you will proactively advise the Executive and the National Board to generate opportunities and drive the overall performance of AFDA. You will also build and enhance relationships with key government agencies, stakeholders and peak bodies to ensure members are well-informed, communication is clear, and services provided to them are of the highest quality. Your role will also require you to represent AFDA in the media and at conferences and community forums.

Ideally tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline, you will be an impressive leader with the ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels of organisations. Your people skills will allow you to forge close ties with Funeral Directors, addressing their needs and correspondingly driving membership loyalty and growth. Able to work closely with the Executive, you will be capable to provide them with concise, accurate and relevant updates. Your experience may have been gained in an industry association, the Not for Profit sector or in a compliance-based regulatory industry. Most of all it will be your work track record of developing strong rapport with others to generate results that will set you apart.
