2016 – A Year in Review
As the festive period is now well-underway, we thought it would be timely to take a quick look back at the year that was 2016.
As we’ve said on numerous occasions, the recruitment game is by its very nature highly unpredictable, and 2016 has continued to reflect this trend. We’ve been pleasantly surprised at the consistent flow of work at times that have seen landmark events such as Brexit, EOFY, the Federal Election and the US Election. Often events such as these have a stagnating effect on hiring, but this year that wasn’t the case. On the other side of the ledger, this was the first year in many that saw a very quiet July – traditionally the busiest month of the year.
We love that our work gives us interaction with a wide array of candidates and clients, and provides exposure to such a broad range of industries. This year we have worked across Construction, Energy Consulting, Software, Professional Services, Manufacturing, Industrial Distribution, Agriculture, Financial Services, Web Aggregators, Legal, Industrial Cleaning, Automotive and Education.
Despite some commentators predicting slowing economic conditions in 2017, the grass roots view of small to medium businesses across all of these sectors has appeared highly positive. This gives us some confidence that the Australian economy is fundamentally continuing to track well, and that we should all be in for another busy and exciting year in business.
In the meantime, we hope all of our valued candidates and clients have a relaxing and enjoyable festive season. We look forward to catching up with all of you next year. Stay safe!
Andrew, Rebecca and Mark
